This is the final part of a series of courses that provides a comprehensive review of the types, options, features, and appropriate use of potential seating solutions, as well as how to match them to specific seating needs. The modules were developed from a series of presentations by Elizabeth Cole at VGM Group, Inc. 2012 Heartland Conference. This module will provide a summary matrix of the information in Parts 1, 2 and 3 by taking each abnormal posture and each potential cause and providing a list of potential seating solutions. You should also complete the following courses BEFORE starting this series: SEAT001 - The Biomechanics of Seating and SEAT003 - The Mat Evaluation for Wheeled Mobility and Seating. Learning objectives: 1. Identify the difference between a physical (musculoskeletal, neurological, physiological or cognitive) cause of a postural abnormality and a technical (equipment-related) cause; 2. Provide at least three potential seating solutions that might be appropriate for each of the common pelvic, trunk and lower extremity postural abnormalities and each of their common physical (musculoskeletal, neurological, physiological or cognitive) causes; 3. Provide at least one potential seating solution that might be appropriate for each of the common pelvic, trunk and lower extremity postural abnormalities and each of their common technical (equipment-related) causes; 4. Identify the differences in appropriate solutions for a reducible versus a fixed postural deformity for each applicable common pelvic, trunk and lower extremity postural abnormalities and each of their physical causes. To successfully complete this module, you must attain a minimum score of 80% on the final exam and complete the module training survey.
