Providing the correct fit of seating and mobility products is a critical step in the prescription process. This course will provide in-depth information regarding what to measure, how to correctly complete each measurement, how to translate each anatomical measurement into the appropriate equipment dimension, and the affects of proper and improper measurements on posture and function.
Learning objectives:
- Identify the corresponding feature on the seating and mobility system for each of the following measurements: hip width, upper leg length, lower leg length, foot length, foot width, back height, head height, PSIS height, chest width, chest depth, shoulder width, arm length, arm height and trochanter width;
- Demonstrate how you would perform the above measurements;
- Identify at least 3 effects of improper measurements for each of the above anatomical dimensions;
- Identify how to accommodate for fixed deformities with the above measurements;
- Identify how the individual should be positioned prior to measuring.
