This is the first of a 2-part series that will provide a description of each of the steps that are recommended in the prescription and provision of wheeled mobility and seating devices. This course will outline the initial steps of referral, client interview and the physical portion of the clinical evaluation, as well as the team approach to seating and mobility provision.
Learning objectives:
- Identify the core team members on the wheeled mobility and seating team, and describe their role or input in the evaluation process;
- Identify at least five other potential team members on the wheeled mobility and seating team, and describe their role or input in the evaluation process;
- List the key pieces of information that should be obtained during the referral process;
- List at least five major categories of information that should be obtained during the client interview;
- Describe at least three specific pieces of information that are critical from each category listed in objective #4;
- List the components of the physical portion of the clinical evaluation for wheeled mobility and seating;
- Describe how each of the components in objective #6 relates to choosing the correct equipment.
