This course will present an in-depth look at how and why we sit the way we do, and how this can affect an individual who is using wheeled mobility.
Learning objectives:
- Identify the skeletal landmarks that are pertinent to a seating evaluation;
- List and describe the three anatomical reference planes used in identifying posture;
- Describe normal posture and each of the most common abnormal postures in terms of skeletal landmarks and their relationship to each other in space;
- List at least five common causes of each of the most common abnormal postures;
- Describe the difference between a fixed and a flexible posture;
- Describe at least five detrimental results of abnormal postures.
