This unit discusses the treatment and follow-up phase of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) intervention. Stages of intervention from initial setup and goal planning to ongoing screening for need are discussed, as is troubleshooting and repair.
Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- State at least two members of the AAC intervention team.
- State the purpose of the SGD initial training session.
- State at least one benefit and drawback of each of the three primary AAC treatment models.
- State at least one adjustment that may be needed to an AAC system over time.
- Identify the difference in a warranty and funded repair.
