This unit provides an overview of access methods for use with speech generating devices (SGDs). Various access options/settings, troubleshooting, and considerations for selection are discussed. 

Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to: 

  1. State at least two alternate access methods for SGD access.
  2. List at least two accommodations for touch access.
  3. State at least one limitation of eye tracking access. 
  4. State the primary reason head tracking access must be eliminated.
  5. State the primary consideration for selecting the number of switches used for scanning.
